Norwalk and Sheffield Island

I woke up early to explore Sheffield island. After you got off the nature trail it was a rugged hike around the island. Swatting away mosquitos, watching out for coon families on their morning stroll and deer bounding through the woods, all while tripping over rusted out engine blocks.
Got to the island before the college kids were awake to charge me 5 bucks

A family of coons stopped to check me out.

Long Point Beach and Provincetown Harbor

We have been anchored in Provincetown Harbor waiting for the right wind to sail the outside route to Nantucket. Hopefully tropical storm Bertha will bring some wind with her. Anchoring off of Long Point Beach can be tricky as it drops off quickly. Too much chain out and you could run aground as the wind changes. Too little chain puts you in danger of dragging your anchor into deeper water were it is no longer of use. With no winds we haven't worried. We have had Long Point beach all to ourselves from 6pm to 10am except for the occasional coyote and a large family of seals. Dan didn't believe that I heard coyotes the night before until howls came from the brush while we were moving our dingy down to the water.

Post on Provincetown proper soon!

Them blues.

We have some serious bottom scraping to do. Good thing I have the muscles for it.

Sarah dry dock.

Dan and I sailed down to New Bedford this weekend to have the boat hauled out. Why New Bedford? Well, the last time Dan was hauled out at Bayline Boatyard it actually cost LESS than expected. Unheard of. They also release guard dogs every night which makes Sarah feel like a bad ass. We had excellent weather for May but struggled with South West winds through the Cape Cod Canal and Buzzards Bay resulting in an unexpected waylay in Marion, Ma. But May means free moorings for all! Here are some pics I took with my new camera. peace. -A
